You can save any post you see on Lylac into one of your folders; you can post something directly into a public folder (forum-style), or can invite others to collaborate on a secret folder with you. Since any type of work can be saved into a folder, this includes photos, texts, projects, or other folder posts.
You can create three types of folders: Public + Open, Public + Closed or Private + Closed. Public means the folder is viewable to everyone, whereas only the creator can view their Private folder. Open suggests that anyone can add to the folder (forum style), whereas Closed suggests that only the creator can add to or edit the folder.
They are especially useful to create mood boards, to organise your ideas and thoughts into manageable collections, and to create open spaces centred around specific topics.
Open Collections are collections that allow all other users on Lylac to post into them. They are more commonly referred to as forum spaces. For example, the UPDATES and FEEDBACK collections set by the lylac account are OPEN + PUBLIC collections. They are PUBLIC because they can be viewed by all users, and are OPEN because any user can directly interact and post into them.
Use cases: Portfolios, Work Previews, Showcases.
Closed collections are collections in which only the creator can post into them. We recommend Portfolios to be set to the PUBLIC + CLOSED setting, that way the collection can be viewed by any viewer, but can only be edited by you, the creator of the collection.
Use cases: Forums, Collections initiating collaborate incentives.
Private collections, as the name suggests, are collections can only you, the creator, can view and edit. They are informally known as Secret collections. If you're working on a project that you don't want to make public just yet, we recommend using this setting.
Use cases: Secret collections, WIPs.
