Collections
Collections are an extremely powerful and versatile type of post. Their purpose is to house singular posts into a shared group.

How do collections work?
Following our most recent update, all singular posts, such as image posts and notes, must be posted inside a collection. When posting a single piece of work such as an image or a note, users are prompted to select an already-created collection to post inside.
They are especially useful to create mood boards, to organise your ideas and thoughts into manageable collections, and to create open spaces centred around specific topics.
Posting a single piece of work inside a collection
To post a single piece of work that is not a collection, click on the collection you would like to post inside of and select the '+' icon, located in the middle of the menu bar. Alternatively, you can navigate to the 'Welcome to Collections' page (located in the middle of the navigation bar) and select the '+' icon at the top right of the screen.

Setting your Collection privacy
You can create three types of collection: Public + Open, Public + Closed or Private + Closed.
Public means the collection is viewable to everyone, whereas only the creator can view their Private collection.
Open suggests that anyone can add to the collection (forum style), whereas Closed suggests that only the creator can add to the collection. Note that in either case, whether the collection is Open of Closed, only the creator of the collection can edit the name, preview image and description of the collection.
Open collections are collections that allow all other users on Lylac to post into them. They are more commonly referred to as forum spaces. For example, the Updates and Feedback collections set by the Lylac account are OPEN & PUBLIC. They are PUBLIC because they can be viewed by all users, and are OPEN because any user can directly interact and post into them.
Use cases: Portfolios, Work Previews, Showcases.
Closed collections are ones in which only the creator can post into them. We recommend Portfolios to be set to the PUBLIC & CLOSED setting, that way the collection can be viewed by any viewer, but can only be edited by you, the creator of the collection.
Use cases: Forums, Collections initiating collaborate incentives.
Private collections, as the name suggests, are collections can only you, the creator, can view and edit. They are informally known as Secret collections. If you're working on a project that you don't want to make public just yet, we recommend using this setting.
Use cases: Secret collections, WIPs.
Let's break this down.
Creating a Portfolio
So, if you wanted to create a Portfolio, when clicking on 'Portfolio' in the 'Welcome to Collections' page, Lylac will automatically create a collection that is Public + Closed. This means the Collection will be viewable to everyone who comes across it (Public), but they won't be able to edit the collection, or add to it (Closed).
Creating a Forum
If you clicked on 'Forum' instead when creating your collection, Lylac would automatically create a collection that is viewable to everyone (Public) and that everyone is also able to post inside of (Open).
Creating a Secret Collection
If you happened to create a Secret collection, Lylac would automatically create a collection that is viewable to only you (Private) and accessible or editable to only you (Closed).
Creating a Directory, or a Repository
If you wanted to create a directory of creative jobs say, and you wanted others to be able to add into it, so that it would grow with other people's posts, you would want to create a Forum (Public & Open)
Editing Collection Settings
You can always change a collection's Privacy settings at any point. To alter a collection to Public & Open, Public & Closed, and Secret, navigate to the specific collection, tap on the '...' icon and press 'edit post'.
Saving works to a collection
You can save any post you see on Lylac into one of your collections. If the collection is Public and Open (ie a Forum), you can post something directly it, or can invite others to collaborate on a secret collections with you.
Since collections are themselves posts, anything on Lylac can be saved into a collection; this includes photo posts, notes and other collections.
